Establishment:

Hindustani Education Society Ausa Azad Mahavidyalaya, Ausa Dist. Latur was established in the month of June 1999 and in the same year the department of Library and Information Science came in to existence. The department has faced many challenges like student strength in the beginning but it has emerged victorious during all these 29 years after establishment. Today the department has achieved many feats since inception. It now has experienced and very well-versed faculties, who are hardworking and dedicated towards achieving newer vistas in the field of education and research. The Department of Library and Information Science is one of the important optional subjects taught a B.A. streams degree course in B.A. I, II, III years. Presently Dr. Tote D.S. has been working as Head of the Department. Mr. Jadhav B.N. and Mrs. Gaikwad V.V. working as Assistant Professors in this department.

Objectives of the Department:

1. To create interest of students in the subject of Library and Information Science.
2. To offer stage for students to build their career in Library and Information Science and Creative writing.
3. To enable the students to know the basic Library and Information Science problems.
4. To provide healthy and student centric teaching learning Environment.
5. To introduce practical librarianship in student by visiting different types of Libraries.
6. To promote students to undertake research work.
7. Empowerment to pursue their goals.

About Research:

All the faculty members of the Department of Library and Information Science are research oriented. They are constantly publishing research papers in the national journals. The Head of the Department Dr. Tote D.S. himself a very experienced and has been interest in research and educational innovations. He has awarded M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees. Another faculty Assistant Professor Mr. Jadhav B.N. has good practical knowledge in cataloguing and classification. He has published seven research papers. He has registered for Ph.D. Degree. Another one faculty is Mrs. Gaikwad V.V. She is interested in research and educational innovations. She had published papers in conference, seminars proceedings and journals. She had also awarded M.Phil. degree and Ph.D. in ongoing.
